Nikon announces six new additions to COOLPIX line-up

COOLPIX P6000 The new13.5 megapixel flagship model - the COOLPIX P6000 - features a built-in GPS unit for geotagging the location of your best shots, a 4x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR lens with Extra-low Dispersion (ED) elements, Optical VR Image Stabilization technology, Nikon's exclusive EXPEED™ image processing and new NRW*(RAW) Support. The NRW format will offer enhanced editing abilities when opened in ViewNX (not due out until early October 2008).

Also notable is Nikon's Picture Control System which allows users to adjust their images to pre-set color palette parameters such as Standard, Neutral, Vivid and Monochrome and apply tweaks to image sharpening, tone compensation, brightness, overall tone and saturation.

There's also an Ethernet port built into the camera, the versatility of Programmed Auto [P], Shutter-priority Auto [S], Aperture-priority Auto [A] and Manual [M] modes and other D-SLR elements like a pop-up flash, optical viewfinder and an optional convertor, Speedlights, and wireless remote control. A new 0.76x Wide-angle Convertor WC-E76 offers users the option to utilize focal lengths as wide as 21mm (35mm format equivalent) and the built-in accessory shoe that supports Nikon's i-TTL flash control, which enables wireless control over one group of remote Speedlights including the newly announced SB-900 Speedlight.

The Nikon COOLPIX P6000 will be available from September 2008 for USD$499.95

COOLPIX S60 The killer feature of the new S60 model is the innovative, 3.5-inch TOUCH-SCREEN interface for controlling both playback and shooting functionality. This includes the ability to lock the autofocus and exposure on a subject by touching the corresponding location on the screen and a "Portrait One-Touch Zoom" function, which automatically zooms in and captures a subject with the right amount of framing and focus.

Playback is enhanced by fingertip scrolling through images and zooming by touching the screen. A stylus can be used to access the Draw Function - which allows the user to write notes or add drawings on their images - and the Paint Function - which allows fun frames and stamps to be added to images. Images can also be played back on an HDTV.

Also set for a September release, the COOLPIX S60 will be priced at USD$349.95.

COOLPIX S610c Wi-Fi transfer is the big drawcard for the S610c. Nikon’s photo storage and sharing service called my Picturetown allows users to store up to two gigabytes of pictures and movies off the camera, e-mail pictures, publish them to Flickr®, or link their photos to blogs and social networking sites. Each S610c ships with a subscription to Wi-Fi provider Wayport™ (until August 31, 2011).
